| Accord, NY - Table is Set for Accord Speedway Awards
Banquet on November 3rd at Hudson Valley Resort By Steve Pados, Accord Media The date of November 3rd has been set as the Accord Speedway prepares for it's seventh annual awards banquet since the track has been under the direction of the Palmer family. The top fifteen competitors in each of the stock car divisions and the Wednesday night Midweek Madness divisions will join together to celebrate their success during the 2007 racing season along with management, staff and distinguished guests at the reknowned Hudson Valley Resort, located in nearby Kerhonkson, New York. The speedway, coming off it's record breaking and most successsful season ever, had the 2007 season begin slowly as some nagging area storms curtailed the first two scheduled racing dates of the season. Once the season was underway, a twelve week span of exciting racing action took place on the Ulster County speedplant as an exciting new era was unleashed at Accord with the opening up of the Modified rules to allow Big Blocks to compete for the first time at the speedway under the Palmer regime. The revised rules paved the way for such top driving talents Jerry Higbie, Richie Eurich, and Jeff Heotzler to compete at the speedway with the encumbant small block modified cars and stars. Richie Eurich broke the ice as he became the first driver to win a feature with a Big Block powered machine. Jerry Higbie and Rich Ricci Jr later won Big Block features as well in a Modified division that is deep in driving talent. The Rhinebeck Ford Modifieds capped off their season with the "King of the Catskills" event which saw 2007 track champion Rich Ricci Jr take control of the event in the first third of the 75-lap race and then held off his brother Mike to win more than $5,600.00 in prize money. All divisions at the speedway shared in the growth and success of the speedway. New stars emerged with the weekly racing action as many of the Midweek Madness Champions made the transition into the full car ranks with relative ease. All rosters were bolstered by driving talent looking to make Accord their hometrack as the word continues to spread about the great racing surface and the great purses being paid out by Promoter Gary Palmer. More of the same growth is expected with the start of the 2008 racing season, scheduled for sometime in April. The deadline for tickets to the banquet is October 27th. Tickets for the evening affair are $55.00 per Adult and $22.00 per child and everyone is welcome to attend. No tickets or money will be accepted at the door. Banquet forms for the November 3rd date are available online at: http://www.accordspeedway.com The banquet will commence at 6 PM with a social hour followed by dinner at 7. Immediately after dinner the awards portion will begin starting with the Midweek Madness award winners and concluding with the stock car divisions. Dancing will follow to cap off the evening.
