Accord, NY - Accord Speedway Sets October 13th
for Final Racing Program in 2007 Plus Bryant's Towing "Wreckage in
the Catskills"
By Steve Pados, Accord Media
Accord Speedway, coming off it's record breaking and very successsful
"King of the Catskills" event held on September 28th, will spring
back into action on October 13th as the final racing program of the season
takes place at the quarter-mile Ulster County speedplant. The program
will be the culmination of the remaining racing events that were curtailed
back on September 22nd and September 28th, plus the "Wreckage in
the Catskills" event that will feature 4, 6 and 8 cylinder Enduro
racing and 4, 6, and 8 cylinder Demolition Derby action.
When 163 entries jammed the pit area for the "Midweek Madness Nationals"
event back on September 22nd, track management knew it would take a perfect
evening to remain ahead of the track curfew. With all racing classes on
their A-Game, exciting action took place during the course of the evening
but the track couldn't complete the tremendous invasion of motorcycles
that entered the competition. The remaining Motorcycle classes to be run
will open the daytime racing program on October 13th.
The three weekly racing divisions that didn't complete their racing events
on September 28th will follow, as three feature events remain on that
part of the racing schedule. The Heart Chevrolet Spec Sportsman will take
to the track for their 20-lap feature with three laps already being scored
in the books. Danny Cross from Stone Ridge, New York powered his way to
the front at the start of the event as he drove his Swelha Contracting
machine into the lead at the outset and the race was curfewed after three
laps. Harry Baldwin, who was making a return to racing action, took over
his former mount and was in the runnerup role when the race was curfewed.
The Camper's Barn Sportsman will follow with a 25-lap headliner and the
Bryant's Towing Pure Stocks will battle it out in a 15-lap battle royal
of their own.
Once the heldover events are completed, the Bryant's Towing "Wreckage
in the Catskills" will take center stage for the remainder of the
racing program. The 4, 6 and 8 cylinder Enduro racing will take over the
speedway for their program and the curtain closer for the speedway will
be the 4, 6 and 8 cylinder Demolition Derby as the last competitor remaining
running will be crowned the champion.
The Speedway gates will open at 11AM on the 13th for the final event of
the season and the racing will begin at 1 PM. Admission for the multi-division
show will be $10.00 for Adults and Kids 10 and under will be admitted
free.
