A poor weather forecast and a cool day kept the crowd down a bit for the second day of the Accord Speedway King of the Catskills weekend but the racing on track was excellent as the Ulster County speedplant completed it’s biggest racing event of the season. With five divisions on tap for the Saturday event, nearly 100 cars signed in for the racing activity. Accord Speedway Promoter Gary Palmer had his race to the walls facility in tip-top condition as Bill Rumsey and his WLR Construction Team was the headline sponsor for the final day of the special event.

Anthony Perrego took the lead at the drop of the green and immediately carved out a huge advantage over the rest of the tough field of drivers. Perrego pulled away at will and a spin by John Odendahl on lap-12 brought out the caution. A standing room only crowd filled the Accord Speedway arena on Friday evening to witness the annual running of the prestigious King of the Catskills Modified race and they came away agreeing it was one of the best racing events they witnessed in quite some time. With the the ROC Modified Tour bringing their touring stars in for a battle with the tough field of Accord regulars, the stage was set for a showdown between the two factions. With plenty of interest surrounding the Friday opening event of the King of the Catskills weekend, the second day of the big weekend of racing will be jam-packed with racing talent and the loyal racing fans will have the opportunity to witness the CRSA Sprint Cars working their magic on the Accord high banks as they too are engaged in a heated point’s battle within their group. Leading the parade of CRSA Stars into the Saturday event will be defending series champion Jeremy Quick who brings a narrow five point lead into the event over the hard riding Matt Tanner. More >

Working rigorously under the fall skies that settle over the Catskill Mountains, Accord Speedway Promoter Gary Palmer is putting the finishes touches on his pristine quarter mile hot spot in preparation for the biggest event of the season at his Ulster County speedplant. Dark clouds hovered above the Accord Speedway grounds in the late afternoon on Friday and even sprinkled a bit of rain in the area, but the clouds soon gave way to sunshine and a fabulous night of racing for the Ulster County speedplant.
